Ruggerite Dayaratne no more


Dayarathne Bandara

R.M.D. Dayaratne Bandara, a former Rugby and Football captain of Maliyadeva College passed away. Dayarathne faced an accident and suffered severe injuries during a Sri Lanka Navy Inter-Unit match about a month back and was warded at the intensive care unit at the General Hospital Colombo since then.

Dayaratne captained the Maliyadeva College Rugby and Football teams in 2002 and played for Kurunegala Rugby Football Club and Kurunegala Pelicans Football Club from 2002 to 2008.

In 2008, he joined the Sri Lanka Navy Rugby pool and served as the assistant coach of Maliyadeva College rugby team from 2003 and as the head coach in 2007-2008. His remains lie at Amman Kovil Road, Kurunegala and funeral takes place tomorrow. CW
