Matale Cricket Club powered by an opening stand of 101 between Ravi
Punchihewa 68 and Indika Gallage 52 scored an easy 82 run win over
Malwatte Sports Club, Matale in the opening match of the Division III
inter club cricket tournament organized by the Matale District Cricket
Association and played at the Bernard Aluwihare Stadium in Matale on
Thursday.
Indika Gallage was in such menacing form that he hit 5 towaring sixes
and 46 runs coming through boundaries and 21 balls. Ravi Punchihewa too
collected 52 runs in boundaries with his innings taking only 38 balls.
Medium pacer Sameera Adikarinayake took 5 for 68.
When Malwatte SC batted off spinner though proving to be expensive at
times ran through their batting to capture 6 for 58.
