Conspirators should be brought before law -Minister De Silva
Irangika RANGE and Sandasen MARASINGHE
Leader of the House, Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala
de Silva yesterday said nobody even a presidential candidate can escape
from law after breaking military law or election law and all the
political conspirators should be brought before the law following an
investigation.
The Minister made this observation yesterday at the Parliament at the
debate to extend the emergency regulations by another one month.
Referring to the speeches by the opposition he said those members made
it an opportunity to devalue the remarkable victory gained by the
President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He also stated that the people of this country had given a political
slap to the Opposition including TNA, Mano Ganeshan and Rauff Hakeem and
now it is the time for all to ponder on where had they made the mistake.
He said that even Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe had accepted
the election to be free and fair and those who claim otherwise can go
before the Court. But none of them had taken any proper action and if
they were to go before Courts the government would cite Ranil
Wickramesinghe as the main witness.
He also stated that President Rajapaksa achieved the victory at the
election and the losers were the traitorous national and foreign forces
and unholy alliances and requested everyone to join hands with the
government led by President Rajapaksa without being misled by the unholy
alliances.
