Hearty Harsha

Confidence is a key source of attraction. That is one of the main qualities which Oriflame's 'Male Face of 2010' first runner up Harsha Dabare' boasts of. The lad who hails from the outskirts of Hokandara had worked tirelessly for hours getting back in shape to take part in the competition and make it to the finals.

Harsha is no stranger to the field. He had been modelling and taking part in competitions prior to the event and had even clinched some noteworthy titles like Mr. Talent at the Niroga Fitness show in 2004 and Mr. Personality at the Fitness Kingdom competition held in 2007.

"I have always managed to bag a title at all the competitions I have taken part in. I did not intend to take part in the competition till the last minute.

My friend, Harsha Vivendra who won the title of Mr. Catwalk handed me the application and we both applied just before the deadline," Harsha explained.

He had been featured in a number of commercials, teledramas and calendars but tells the Daily News that he had been sporting quite a different look then.

"All of us went through a grooming process conducted by Brian Kerkoven and Dinesh Chandrasena before the finals. Unlike in most cases we were given the actual products to use before the event so that we would not only look good but also glean knowledge about the goods.

Since we are brand ambassadors we actually know what we are talking about when we advertise the products," the light-eyed youth noted.

Modelling is a hobby for Harsha who is employed at Electro Mobile Pvt Ltd, Piliyandala.

He says that though youths are more interested in looking fashionable than before there is less scope for male models to make it their profession unlike their female counterparts.

His style, he says, is simple so mostly he goes for the denim and t-shirt. A product of Borella Susumewardena College, Harsha had been active in the aesthetic field. He had played volleyball and had been a cadet. Later he had taken up kick-boxing before tackling fashion.

Reflecting on his experience he has many glowing reports to deliver. He said: "All the other contestants were very friendly towards each other. Prabuddha who won the competition was one of my closest buddies. We call each other and work out at the gym. It was a great experience and one that we are grateful for."
