DI to upgrade brand for high-end users

Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CLP) will cater to the high-end domestic
market in Sri Lanka as an alternative to imported shoes.

This will be upgrading the quality and designs of the shoes, a
Spokesman from Ceylon Leather Products PLC told Daily News Business.
The company will also produce high quality leather to cater to the
international and domestic market. With this it targets the growth of
the company to increase from 40 percent this year. He said the company
which is better known as DI Leather will expand the distribution network
all over the island under the brand name DI Leather Boutique.
A new board of directors was appointed for Ceylon Leather Products
PLC, which was established in 1939 by the British Government to produce
boots, shoes and accessories for the British Armed Forces.
Former Central Bank Governor H.B. Dissanayake, Customs Director
General, Lalith Heengama and Former Ambassador to South Africa, Sarath
Munasinghe have joined the Ceylon Leather Products Board from February
2.
They replaced S.A.B.N. Samarakkody, Mohn A. Abeynaike and Chithral J.
Amaratunge.
The new Board comprises Dr. Kosala Heengama, G. Scott Newsome,
M.A.K.B. Dodamgoda, A.D.C. Goonerathne and S.S. Senaratne. |
