DSS in a strong position against Sylvestrians

DS Senanayake College, Colombo were well placed at the end of the
first day’s play in their schools Under-19 cricket tournament match
against St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy which began at Police Ground,
Kandy yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.
Medium pacer Vidula Sanshitha (5 for 34) bowling with sustained
accuracy bowled out the Sylvestrians for 150. Only Dileepa Gayashan
batted with confidence to top score with 59 which nine hits to the
ropes.
DS Senanayake College in their turn at the wickets did not fare too
well losing wickets regularly before a last wicket stand of 48 helped
them to stretch their lead. W. Wetekepotha (58 not out with nine fours)
are M. Ijas (19 n.o) are still there. DS Senanayake College have now a
lead of 80 runs with the last pair in.
Medium pacer Dananjaya Athauda was the pick of the Sylvestrian
bowlers taking 4 for 58.
St. Sylvester’s College: 150 all out in 34 overs (Nuwan Nilantha 16,
Ruwantha Ekanayake 13, Dananjaya Athauda 17, Dileep Gayashan 57,
Madushan Gunasinghe 2 for 31, Vidula Sanshitha 5 for 34).
