JKH records Rs 863 m profit in Q3

Plans to construct new hotel in Beruwala:

John Keells Holdings PLC JKH has recorded a profit before tax (PBT) of Rs 1.50 billion for the third quarter. This reflects an increase of 64 per cent compared to the Rs 918 million in the corresponding period in the previous year, while for the nine months ended December 31, 2009, PBT of Rs 3.37 billion reflects a decline of 14 per cent compared to the Rs 3.93 billion in the same period last year.

Green Building Council for construction industry

SLIA to play pivotal role:

Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) is planning to setup Green Building Council of Sri Lanka with all stakeholders in the construction industry to improve standards of the industry. All stakeholders such as engineers, architects, environmentalists, planners and quantity survey consultants will participate so that there will not be disparities in the quality of the construction industry. SLIA will play pivotal role in this initiative Sri Lanka Institute of Architects President, Chandana Edirisuriya told Daily News Business.
