Implementing Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma:
Start work now - President
Jayasiri MUNASINGHE
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday emphasized that proposals
contained in his second manifesto Mahinda Chintana Idiri Dekma should be
implemented without any delay starting from now.
The President made this observation at Temple Trees when he met the
distinguished persons of the think tank who made proposals on different
sectors to him in drawing up his policy program.
While thanking them for the contribution they made, President
Rajapaksa said that the time to start work was now and there should not
be any delay.
He said the objective of these policies was to make Sri Lanka the hub
of aviation, marine, commercial and knowledge in Asia so that the
country could hold an important place enabling the people to raise their
incomes and standards of living with more lucrative forms of employment.
The President said high priority should be accorded to the proposals
that seek to increase agricultural production while bringing down the
Cost of Living and for the other proposals that would make the nation a
prosperous one soon.
Building a disciplined and law abiding society where housing,
electricity, water supply and communication facilities were available to
the community were urgent tasks to be fulfilled on an urgent high
priority basis, he noted.
The President said his policy was to ensure that no room be left for
the liberated country to be divided again and action should be pursued
vigorously to achieve sustainable peace and amity by consensus.
It was also equally important to protect the flora and fauna and our
physical environment so that development could become fully meaningful,
President Rajapaksa said. |
