For re-electing president:

Janasetha Peramuna thanks people

Janasetha Peramuna(JP) Leader and General Secretary Ven. Battaramulle Seelaratana Thera in a statement issued on behalf of his party has expressed his gratitude and thanks to the people who performed their duty by re-electing President Mahinda Rajapaksa with a convincing majority at the recently concluded Presidential election.

Ven. Seelaratana Thera said his party which entered politics as an independent group contesting the 2008 Wayamba Provincial election under the pineapple symbol.

After contesting all other subsequent Provincial Council elections it became a recognised political party known as Janasetha Peramuna with the tractor as its symbol. Thereafter deviating from politics of greed it created a wide discussion on intelligent principled politics for rebuilding the nation in 2010.

The statement said the Janasetha Peramuna which submitted nominations to contest the 2010 Presidential election later expressed unconditional support for the candidature of President Mahinda Rajapaksa considering the timely economic, social and political need.

The Janasetha Peramuna openly requested people supporting it to switch their support to the President and the people had responded to the request and performed their national duty by supporting President Rajapaksa.

The Janasetha Peramuna would in future support the President to dispel poverty and bring about village level economic development.
