President’s policies endorsed

Sri Lankans had approved the four year presidency of President Mahinda Rajapaksa by re-electing him, said Agricultural and Plantation Workers’ Congress President R.M. Krishnaswamy.

They had endorsed the policy of the President on the need of unity and diversity of the nation, he added.

The APWC President said that propaganda of the Opposition to the imminent violence after the Presidential Election had been proved false. Now the country needs unity and development. President Mahinda Rajapaksa was able to put an end to terrorism that ruined the country for 30 years.

He had created a fearless society in which all communities could co-exist. It is the fervent hope that the President would find a solution to the ethnic problem that is acceptable to all communities, the APWC President pointed out.

Krishnaswamy further said that peace and reconciliation would be the only way to further the development efforts made by the President and he should be supported irrespective of party differences.
