Rs 7.2 m bank heist

Three special police teams have been deployed to nab the four
suspects who fled after robbing Rs.7.2 million from a State Bank in
Isurupaya Branch, near the Education Ministry on Tuesday evening.
Police spokesman SSP I.M. Karunaratna said when the ATM of the
Isurupaya branch was running out of money, it has informed another
branch in Pelawatte.
The Manager of Pelawatte Branch had dispatched Rs.7.2 million with
two employees to the Isurupaya branch at around 4.25pm. “When the Branch
Manager of Isurupaya and a peon were about to load the money to the ATM,
a gang of four stormed the area and threatened them at gun point,” he
added.
The robbers fled from the scene in two motorcycle with Rs. 7.2
million.
He said three special police teams from Thalangama and Nugegoda
police were deployed to nab the suspects. “The armed gangsters did not
wear masks and the eye witness will be able to identify the suspects if
they were arrested,” he added.
