Five Left parties in collective appeal warns:

Defeat conspirators

Five Left parties in a collective appeal gave a signal warning to the people stressing the need to defeat, abort and destroy the impending political conspiracy decisively. They have emphasized the importance of taking into consideration the potential dangerous political trends and developments.

The Lanka Sama Samaja Party, Communist Party of Sri Lanka, Democratic Left Front, People's Liberation of Tamil Eeelam and Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (Padmanaba) in a joint statement said they work in close co-operation in support of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential Election.

They have called upon the people to observe the trends of militarization of politics and politicization of the military.

The ad hoc political alliance, that nominated an ex-General as the Opposition candidate at the Presidential Election represents quintessence of local and international reactionary forces, it said.

The Opposition is a bunch of contradictions comprising opportunists. The only aim of agreement among the opposition is their need to defeat President Mahinda Rajapaksa and their extent of opportunism has no boundaries, the statement stressed.

The five parties further state that the ex-General is said to be a non-party man.

He has leased out a political name board to satisfy the legal requirements of the Election Law. However, he is no political hermaphrodite. He has deep-rooted class relations with UNP and an illicit relationship with the JVP. He is not responsible to any party and no party is responsible for him. Giving power of Executive Presidency to such a candidate is utterly dangerous and risky. His candidature is a product of local and foreign reaction, the statement further added.
