Minister Douglas Devananda |
Leaders of the Tamil speaking people in the recent past never worked
to solve the problems of the people who they represented but were only
blood thirsty, said Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas
Devananda at a meeting with tractor drivers in Manalkadu, Jaffna.
Today the situation is quite different from what prevailed during the
war. The view of the President was that people should live happily as
there are no more sufferings and worries, he added.
Minister Devananda said that steps were being taken to construct a
hospital in the area with the support of the Malaysian Government.
Tractor drivers complained that they faced difficulties in
transporting sand in Manalkadu and obtaining driving licences. He
contacted the Motor Traffic Commissioner and solved the problem
immediately that had been dragging on for some time.
The Minister stressed the importance of re-electing President Mahinda
Rajapaksa.
The Social Services and Social Welfare Minister also opened the Sri
Murugan Co-operative Society building in Kirudavil, the Seelapuram
Pre-School and newly constructed co-operative building in Vadamarachchi.
He opened the Kottanthurai library which was constructed at a cost of Rs
525,000.
