Ayurveda research conference historical event
The third annual Ayurveda Research Conference was an important
milestone as well as a historical event in the history of Ayurveda and
Traditional Medicine in Sri Lanka, said Sri Lanka Ayurveda and
traditional medicine institute President and Ruhuna University Professor
of Botany Prof. Samarakoon.
He was addressing the third annual Ayurveda Research Conference
organized by the Ayurveda College of Uk held at the Bandaranaike
Memorial International Conference Hall recently.
This is the first time Sri Lanka has hosted such an event and these
types of conferences are a timely need in the development of the field
of Ayurveda in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Institute of Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine joined
with the College of Ayurveda UK in hosting the event. The Sri Lanka
Institute of Ayurveda and Traditional Medicine was established about one
an a half years ago with the intention of developing post graduate
studies, research and professional development in Ayurveda and
Traditional Medicine.
Founder and organizing committee president Dr. Palitha Serasinghe
said the main objective of the conference is to give a platform to
present researches done in various countries in the world, to build up
unity and coordination among those who are interested in the field of
Ayurveda and traditional medicine.
Delegates from countries such as Sri Lanka, India, United Kingdom,
New Zealand, Japan, Germany and France were present at the event.
