Peterites win schools 7's title

St. Peter's College, Colombo, bagged the schools title at the Carlton Sri Lanka Rugby Sevens with a thrilling 17 points (1 goal, 2 tries) to 14 (two goals) win over Royal College Colombo in the finals after leading 12-0 at half time.

Peterites opened scoring when Rizwan Meedin scored by the corner flag. Nanayakkara missed the conversion 5-0. Just before the breather the Peterites increased the lead through Shenal Dias who powered his way to score by the corner flag. Banuka Nanayakkara added the extra points (12-0). Soon after resumption the Peterites went ahead further when Banuka Nanayakkara fell over for unconverted try (17-0).

The Royalists fought back and scored through Shehan Pathirana who barged over to score. Mushin Faleel converted. Then Kalana Amerasinghe scored under the posts. Mushin Faleel converted 14-17 but the Peterites ran out winners by 17-14.

Maliyadeva was beaten by Prince of Wales College, Colombo in the Plate final. Arjuna Nadeera scored two tries while Dushan Honnanthara, Chamara Silva and Kavindu Parakum who scored one try each. Anushka Uthpala added the extra points to have a 28-0 lead.

Rathnayake of Maliyadeva College scored the solitary try for losers while Subasinghe booted for extra points.

Carey College, Colombo make their name in the Bowl championship beating Vidyartha 31-0. M. Rifaz, Lasantha Silva and their leading try scorer Lushan Lankajeewa making the tries. 31-0

Dhanushka Ranjan of St. Peter's College, Colombo was declared as the Best Player of the schools competition at the Carlton Sri Lanka Sevens tournament.
