LSSP lauds President's nomination

The Lanka Sama Samaja Party expresses its pleasure at the nomination of President Mahinda Rajapaksa from the United People's Freedom Alliance to contest the next Presidential Election.

Even in 2005, it was our Party that first proposed him as the most suitable candidate to contest the Presidential Election, states a Lanka Sama Samaja Party Press release.

It said: "We acknowledge with great satisfaction the victory achieved by the defeat of fascist terrorism. Despite numerous questions that arose during the terrorist war, living conditions of the people were maintained. Both the world economics situation as well as the war contributed towards this situation.

'However we wish his victory shall usher economic stability by overcoming undue imperialist pressure on the country.

Whilst sincerely wishing that the Executive Presidency which, according to the Mahinda Chintanaya shall be abolished, we wish he shall get the strength and determination to solve the country's problems by establishing cordial relationship with friendly countries whilst overcoming foreign imperialist conspiracies.

All party organisations have already taken action towards his victory.
