CWC committed to President’s victory

The CWC is committed to work hard for the victory of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential Election, said Youth Empowerment and Socio-economic Development Minister Arumugam Thondaman at a meeting held at the CWC Labour Foundation Auditorium at Kotagala last Friday. He called upon the plantation workers to vote for the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

With the fullest support and co-operation of Youth Empowerment and Socio-Economic Development Minister and CWC General Secretary Arumugam Thondaman, President Mahinda Rajapaksa will win with a great majority at the forthcoming Presidential election, Said enior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa, MP addressing the meeting held at Congress Labour Foundation’s Auditorium at Kotagala in the Nuwara-eliya Electorate on last Friday.

He said if plantation workers wanted to progress their socio-economic positions should be developed and improved.

Minister Thondaman, as a leader intervened into the wage incement demand of estate workers and brought a solution.

Likewise, Minister Thondaman has mooted the Estate Housing Schemes for estate workers. Under the Mahinda Chintana Policies, the Government has many development plans and provided many infrastructure facilities for plantation workers.

Minister Arumugam Thondaman always sought the advices of the Government and he never failed to bring any workers problem to the other Ministers Rajapaksa said.

Minister Arumugam Thondaman said that everybody knew that Ceylon Worker’s Congress is the major trade union and political party among Plantation Community in Sri Lanka.

It has become part and parcel of Plantation Community since its inception.

Minister C. B. Ratnayake, Susil Premjayantha, Deputy Ministers Muthu Sivalingam, S. Jegadeeswaran, M. Satchithananthan, CPC Education Minister Radhakrishnan, Uva PC Minister Senthil Thondaman along with Provincial Councillors and members of Pradeshiya Councils were present.
