School textbooks worth Rs. 3,000 million for the next year have
already been dispatched to Zonal and Divisional Education offices
throughout the country, Education Publications Commissioner W.M.N.J.
Pushpakumara said.
It has been estimated that school textbooks requirement for 2010 is
35 million and these books have already been stored in zonal and
divisional education offices.
The book distribution National ceremony will be held on December 9 at
Wembly Vidyalaya, Jaffna under the patronage of Education Minister Susil
Premjayanth. More than two million textbooks have been sent to North for
the next year, he added.
In keeping with the concept of Equal Education for All, the
Government has allocated funds on time to print school textbooks. The
Education Ministry has ensured that every single student will receive
textbooks at the beginning of the first school term of 2010.
