Sri Lanka to host CHOGM in 2013

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) at Trinidad and Tobago yesterday, November 29 agreed unanimously for Sri Lanka to host the CHOGM in 2013.

It was also decided that the next CHOGM in 2011 will be hosted by Australia, and that Mauritius will host CHOGM in 2015.

Diplomatic sources said the unanimity on agreeing for Sri Lanka to host CHOGM in 2013 was a major diplomatic achievement for Sri Lanka, especially in the current post-conflict situation, and was a further indication of the wider acceptance of the Sri Lankan success in the fight against terrorism.
