Zelaya: USA backs Honduran putschists

Zelaya said on Thursday that the United States is supporting the de
facto regime of the putschists and reiterated that he will not recognize
the results of the elections on Sunday, November 29.
In an interview for Brazilian UOL Noticias website, Zelaya said that
“the United States is not only supporting the elections, but also the de
facto regime, the dictatorship, the putschists’ regime.” A coup on June
28 not only took Zelaya away of the presidency but also of the country.
On September 21, he returned to Tegucigalpa and has been in the
Brazilian Embassy in Honduras since then.
In this regard, Zelaya said he will remain in the said facility as
long as Brazil allows him to.
The Brazilian Government said that no date has been set for Zelaya to
leave the diplomatic mission, where he can stay for as long as it is
necessary. Zelaya said he will impugn Sunday elections because when
legal order and constitutional order is broken by a coup, no process can
