SL-Poland Business Council celebrates 10th anniversary
The Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of
Commerce recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in conjunction with
the Annual General Meeting of the Council. Honorary Consul for Poland
Ken Balendra was the Chief Guest and Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of
Commerce Dr. Anura Ekanayake was the Guest of Honour.

The Council's President Mrs. Nirmali Samaratunga said that following
the end of the war the business community should seize the opportunities
arising and the Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council has a vital role to
play as a facilitator in the emerging scenario. She also stressed the
growing potential of Poland as a trading partner as well as for inward
tourism.
Co-Chairman/Joint Managing Director of Mackwoods Ltd Mrs. Nirmali
Samaratunga was re-elected as the President of the Council for the year
2009/2010. Chairman of Semage & Company (Pvt) Ltd Kumara Semage and
Marketing Manager-Exports, Chemanex Adhesives (Pvt) Ltd Nazvi Hassan
were elected as vice presidents.
The following Members were elected to serve on the Executive
Committee of the Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council: Ruwan Senanayake,
Freight Links International (Pte) Ltd, Kavinda Rajapakse, Samson Rubber
Industries (Pvt) Ltd Mrs. S.T.S.Manuwendra, Greenet Plants and Flowers (Pvt)
Ltd, Tufail Salie, Hameed Brothers (Pvt) Ltd Bramwell Smith, Unicel (Pvt)
Ltd, S Deivanayagam, Eswaran Brothers Exports (Pvt) Ltd Pradeep
Daluwatte, Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd and Mrs.Amal Goonetilleke, Hotel
Taj Samudra. Ranel Wijesinghe was also invited to the Committee being
the Founder President of the Council.
To mark the 10th anniversary a cake was cut by the Chief Guest.
A catalogue exhibition displaying numerous publications and CDs of
potential sectors for trade and investment was also held to mark the
event.
Membership of the Council is open to individuals, partnerships,
companies, corporations and other organizations engaged in trade,
tourism or services with Poland or engaged in joint ventures with Polish
organizations or interested in entering into or promoting trade,
tourism, services or joint ventures with Polish organizations. The
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce acts as the secretariat. |
