IBSL holds 14th Annual Convocation
The Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), the premier institute
for professional education in Sri Lanka, especially in the banking and
financial sector, held its 14th Annual Convocation at the BMICH
recently. IBSL incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1979 provides
instructions and training to banking and financial sector

personnel.
It has a student membership of 35,000 and its annual new student
registrations amount to nearly 6,000. The membership is not confined to
the banking and finance sector personnel, but includes school-leavers
and those have opted to pursue their studies in the field of banking and
finance, having completed their secondary education. The IBSL has
produced 2,500 Associate members during the past four decades and 101
Fellow members.
The 14th Convocation of the IBSL, awarded 208 diplomas in banking and
finance and 12 Associate memberships. In addition, gold medals and
special cash awards were awarded for those who have shown an outstanding
performance at the examinations.
The Chief Guest was Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, while
the Guest of Honour was Chairman, University Grants Commission Prof.
