The Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC), the premier motoring club in Sri Lanka entered into partnership with Sri Lanka's leader in automotive products, Douglas and Sons (Pvt) Ltd. (DSL). The partnership opens the doors for AAC and DSL to work together to provide wide ranging benefits to the membership of AAC. These benefits range from emergency roadside assistance to discounts on popular products such as GT tyres and Yuasa Batteries and the provision of education to motorists.

President of AAC Dhammika Attygala said, "As the premier motoring club of Sri Lanka, we are pleased to enter in to a Strategic Partnership with DSL, the leader in automotive products. This partnership will provide many benefits to the members of AAC and to the motoring public in general".

Chairman and Managing Director of DSL Saroj Perera said "The AAC is making commendable progress under the leadership of Dhammika Attygala and his Executive Committee. We are pleased to be a part of this progress. The motoring Public of Sri Lanka has many benefits to gain by becoming members of AAC. We will contribute to further developing these benefits through our prestigious brands such as GT Tyres, Yuasa Batteries and NGK Spark plugs."

AAC was established in 1904 and is the only authority in Sri Lanka to issue international Driving Licences. AAC is an affiliate member of FIA (Federation International Del Automobile) since 1931 thus allowing its members to receive reciprocal benefits from most of the 160 clubs spread over 120 countries on presentation of the membership card. Locally, members are entitled to a variety of discounts on auto parts and services along with a host of benefits including, emergency road side assistance, legal defence, motoring advice and AA auditorium and Club house services.

DSL, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in December 2006, has grown to be the market leader in imported tyres, automotive batteries, and in automotive spare parts, employing 225 individuals and reaching far and wide across Sri Lanka via a 1500 strong dealer network.

The company is also a leading manufacturer and supplier of soft toys for the international market and has propelled itself up the global soft toy supply chain by specializing in an innovative range of fully organic soft toys catering to some of the world top-notch brands including Marks and Spencer, Harrods and Hamleys.

The company also won a Gold Award at the 17th Annual Export Awards ceremony conducted recently by National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.
