Police arrest treasure hunters

Four treasure hunters were arrested by police along with a number of artifacts in Mahadivuluwewa, Morawewa last week, police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said.

He said acting on information, police nabbed the four suspects while digging artifacts in the Morawewa area. "A number of artifacts and equipment used were seized from the suspects' possession," he added.

The value of the artifacts have not been estimated yet.

The suspects produced before the Trincomalee Magistrate were remanded until November 3.
