LSEG invests US$ 30 million

Millennium IT to become leading institution in IT field :

Enterprises Development, Export Promotion, Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa addressing a meeting of representatives of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) at the World Trade Centre, Colombo recently said that the service sector play a major role in the country's economic development. He said that the youth in the country who possess immense manpower contribute greatly to this sector.

The London Stock Exchange Group signed an agreement to invest US$ 30 million for the Millennium Information Technology Centre at Malabe at this ceremony. The Minister said that the Government had initiated a program to popularize IT and the English Language in the country. It is the aim of the Government to produce a group of persons well equipped with knowledge needed for the companies.

With this investment, the Millennium IT Centre will become the leading institution in this fields in another two to three years, Chief Executive Officer of LSEG Xavier Rolet said.

Chief Executive Officer / Managing Director of Millennium IT Tony Weerasinghe also addressed the gathering.
