German Court confirms trial against Nazi

Germany: The German Constitutional Court confirmed Wednesday the trial set for November against war criminal Nazi John Demjanjuk, who is accused of collaborating in the 27,900 murders of Jewish people in a Polish extermination camp.

The Munich District Court, in the federal state of Bevier, is in charge of that process, which will begin in November 30 with many audiences scheduled until May 2010.

This is considered the last trial for war crimes in World War II (1939-1945).

The German Court rejected two defence appeals that claimed the release of the 89-year-old accused and suspension of the trial, trying to save, for the second time, the Ukrainian ex-guard, and old SS collaborator, according to documentary investigations.

The German Attorney General's Office accused Demjanjuk of helping in the murder of 27,900 Hebrews in the gas chambers, when he was a security guard in the Polish Sobibor extermination camp in 1943. Berlin, Prensa Latina
