Kandy District - Central Region champions

Kandy District became Central Region champions at the Prima under 15 cricket organised by Sri Lanka Cricket when they beat Kegalle District by nine wickets in the last match played at Prison grounds, Pallekelle yesterday. The match was over shortly after lunch.

Kegalle District batting first were all at sea against the right arm leg spin bowling of Trinitians Rajitha Jayatunga who in a mesmerising spell captured 4 for 17 while Tharindu Malalasena polished off the tail taking 2 for 0.

Kandy District were set a victory target of 64 and they reached their target in just 13.5 overs.

Kegalle District 63 all out in 21.1 overs (P. Ranaweera 22, T. Somatilleke 18, Rajitha Jayatunga 4 for 17, Akalanka Dissanayake 2 for 19, Tharindu Malalasena 2 for 0).

Kandy District 64 for 1 in 13.5 overs (Panitha Nanayakkara 30 n.o., Dinuk Wickremanayake 24 n.o.).
