The twenty eight year old Sri Lanka Freight Forwarders Association (SLFFA) will organise and conduct its inaugural six-a-side cricket carnival on Saturday, October 31 at the Bloomfield grounds.

This day and night tournament is expected to draw a crowd of approximately 1000 participants, guests and spectators, whilst those in attendance would include top officials such as Chairmen, Managing Directors, Directors and CEOs, of member organizations.

Enthusiasm does prevail amongst the 49 teams from the member companies who are taking part in this event, which is being held for the first time, with the hope of it becoming an annual feature. These details were made known to media personnel at a conference on Tuesday at the SSC by the Chairman of the SLFFA, Tony de Livera

Apart from promoting healthy rivalry and a competitive spirit amongst the participating teams - the event also seeks to foster and bolster much camaraderie, bonhomie and fellowship amongst the fraternity of the SLFFA.

And so there will be a carnival atmosphere on the grounds, giving rise to a sense of well being. It will be ever so ideal for the whole family, with there being a kinds corner, food stalls, a live band and dancers to entertain those present. There will be various prizes and surprises for all. The main sponsor for the event is Janashakthi Insurance, with Gold FM as media sponsor. The co-sponsors are CWT Globelink, S. G. Logistics (schenker). APL Lanka Maersk Line, Browns Group, Expo Lanka Freight Links International, John Keells Logistics, C. L. Synergy, NYK Line and CMA and CGM.

The SLFFA came into be in 1981 with the aim of bringing all freight forwarders under one umbrella, so as to institutionalise and professionalise the trade.
