Sandalanka MV cricket champions

The Sandalanka Madya Vidyalaya won the 40 over cricket tournament conducted by the All Ceylon Madya Vidyalaya Past Pupils Association at the Oruwala Steel Corporation grounds on October 18 beating Hanwella Madya Vidyalaya in the finals. They received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 from Sports and Public Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge at the prize distribution which followed.

Captain of the Sandalanka team W.N. Wijamuni who made the highest score of 38 runs received the man of the Match Award.

Ibbagamuwa MV won the Netball tournament beating Kalutara Maha Vidyalaya in the finals, while Madampe Senanayake MV won the (boys) Volleyball Tournament beating Karandeniya MV in the finals. The Women's volleyball tournament was won by Madampe Senanayake MV beating Henegama MV in the finals.

Forty out of the 54 Madya Vidyalayas launched by the father of Free Education late Minister Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara, took part in this Sports Festival organised by the All Ceylon Madya Vidyalaya Past Pupils Association.
