A fine double by Ranga Dias who took 5 for 35 and scored 100 not out
with 6 sixes and 8 fours off 82 deliveries helped Negombo Cricket Club
to score a first innings win over Kandy Youths Cricket Club in the P.
Sara Trophy Cricket Tournament match concluded at Open Prison Camp
grounds at Pallekele yesterday.
Kandy Youths CC chasing a total of 342 folded up for 142 with only
Dhanushka Mitipolarachchi top scoring with a solid 53 with 8 fours.
Ranga Dias bowled well to capture 5 for 35 supported by Chaminda
Fernando who took 4 for 45.
Forced to follow on Kandy Youths fared a little better to score 205
for 8 just managed to avoid an innings defeat.
Prasad Ranawaka scored 79 with 9 fours while Kasun Ekanayake 37 not
out and Jerome Siegertsz 14 not out and put on 36 valuable runs in an
unbroken stand for the ninth wicket to thwart the Negombo team from
winning the match outright.
