Sarasavi Uyana and Sri Rahula Under 18 joint champions

Last year’s Cup Champions Sarasavi Uyana MV, Peradeniya emerged Joint champions with Sri Rahula, Kandy who figured in a nil all draw in the final of the All Island Schools Under 18 Division Two 10-A side Rugby Tournament played at the U.C. Grounds Bandarawela in front of a large crowd on October 17.

Both Rahula and Sarasavi Uyana played a very hard game who went man to man with some bone jarring tackling. But both teams could not score during full time of play, and the officials allowed extra time three minutes each side but no scoring was done, and the officials declared them as joint champs.

This Under 18 All Island Division Two 10-A side rugby tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA), which was sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd.

The chief guest was Bandula Egodage, External Affairs and Activations Manager Nestle Lanka Ltd., while the guest of honour was Mohan H. De Silva, Brand Manager Nestle Lanka Ltd. More than 450 participants from 31 schools took part in this tournament.

This tournament was well arranged by Denzil Darling, Uva Province Schools Secretary/Coordinator. The results: Cup-Joint Champions Sarasavi Uyana, Peradeniya and Sri Rahula College, Kandy drawn (nil all). Plate- Dudley Senanayake MV, Colombo 5 beat D.B. Welagedara Vidyalaya, Kurunegala 24 points to nil. Bowl Devapathiraja MV, Ratgama beat St. Joseph’s College, Bandarawela 22 points to nil.
