Semi-finalists found in schools cager tourney

St. Benedict’s College beat St. Sebastian’s College by 66 points to 65 in the quarter-final of the under 19 all island school basketball tournament match played at S. Thomas’ College courts at Mt. Lavinia.

St. Benedict’s was in the lead 29 to 23 at half time.

Clinton Staloan (26) and Royston Kueen (18), were the top scorers for the winners, while Gratein Silva (24) and Diluk Fernando (21) collected points for the Sebastian’s team.

St. Peter’s College defeated Prince of Wales College by 59 points to 33 in an another quarter-final game played at the same venue.

Lakshan Samarasinghe top scored with (24) points, Senal Dias (14), Shanaka Madusanka (16) and Isuru Sandaruwan (12) scored well for Prince of Wales. St. Thomas College routed Azar Central College by 77 points to 64 in the 3rd quarter-final encounter.

Shaveen Kapuwatta (28), Vikesh Dharmasena (15) and Sudarshana Mututantri (12) made good contributions for winners while Aazir Ramesh (19) and Hasan Haleemdeen (14) were the main scorers for Azar Central College.

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda overcame St. Joseph’s College by 68 points to 64 in the fourth match.

St. Joseph’s was in the lead 34 points to 32 at half time. Rumesh Senanayake (28) made the valuable contribution for Lyceum with Anjelo Jayasuriya getting 14 points. Seran Nanayakkara (18) and Praneeth Udumalagala (14) points are the top scorers for St. Joseph’s College.
