ITF Junior Circuit tennis (2):

Sans Chinese stars contest fairly open

In the absence of the Chinese who left after dominating the ITF Junior Circuit (week one) tennis tournament that ended last Saturday - the Koreans and the Sri Lankans are making quite an impression at the SLTA courts in the week two ITF Junior Circuit tennis tournament which is now in progress.

In the boys singles Dineshkanthan and A. Jayawickrema from Sri Lanka and the Koreans Woo and Jang, will have to contend amongst them to vie for the singles title.

In the girls singles the contest appears to be between Sri Lanka’s Amreetha Muttiah and India’s Sajjad, while Mandava from India and the Thai girl Chinsakchai could also be a force to reckon with.

Girls Doubles - quarter finals: N. Fernando / S. Wijesinghe (SL) beat K. Herath (SL) / R. Alysha (Ind). S. Manoj Kumar / S. Sree Hari (Ind) beat P. Chinsakchai/T. Suetrong (Thai) 6/2, 5/1.
