Joint rail-bus service for Sagarika travellers

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) commenced a second joint
railway-bus service recently from the Matara Railway Station for the
benefit of commuters travelling in the Sagarika train to Matara from
Colombo.
A SLTB spokesman told the Daily News that the joint railway-bus
service will fill the long felt need of commuters living in Matara.
Eleven new bus services were inaugurated from the Matara Railway
Station for the benefit of commuters coming to Matara by the Sagarika
train.
Once the train comes to the Matara station, 11 bus services start
from the station at 8.25pm to Akuressa, Yatiyana, Walasmulla, Radampala,
Aparekka, Dickwella, Thelijjawila, Aththudawa, Kamburupitiya and
Malimbada.
Transport Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said that the first joint
railway-bus service that commenced at the Dematagoda railway station is
operating successfully now.
"We will extend this service to railway stations in other parts of
the country following requests from commuters," he said. |
