Malani nominated for Best Actress Award

Queen of the Sinhala Cinema Malani Fonseka has been nominated for the
best actress award at the Asia Pacific Film Awards ceremony conducted
for the third time by the Asia Pacific Cinema Academy, for her role as
Sandhya Rani in the Sinhala film Akasa Kusum.
The nomination list was announced on October 12.
The Asia Pacific Film Awards ceremony jointly organised by the
UNESCO, International Film Producers' Congress and the CNN Television
channel will be held in Australia on November 26. Altogether 210 films
from 43 countries received entry for the ceremony and 37 films from 16
countries received nominations for various categories.
Malani earlier received the Silver Peacock Award at the 39th
International Film Festival held in India for her role in the same film
(Akasa Kusum).
Akasa Kusum, a joint Sri Lanka-India production produced by H. D.
Premasiri and A. Srikar Prasad is directed by Prasanna Vithanage.
