Four hundred shuttlers for Mercantile Tourney

Four Hundred players from forty firms will take part in the 26th Individual Open Badminton Championships which will be conducted by the Mercantile Badminton Association at S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium Mount Lavinia from October 7 to 11.

Dinuka Karunaratne and Chandrika De Silva bagged the Men’s and women’s singles in the last year’s Individual Open Championships while the Dulux Overall Championship for the Highest Points aggregate was won by Hatton National Bank.

The tournament will be conducted on a knock-out basis. The events are Men’s and Women’s Singles, Men’s and Women’s Doubles. Mixed Doubles, Veterans (Over 40) Singles and Doubles, Veterans (Over 35), Women’s Doubles and Singles, Masters (Over 50) Singles and Doubles. (S.B)
