Moulavi teachers to be appointed

Initiatives have been taken by the Education Ministry to appoint Moulavi Teachers in November Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.

The Minister was addressing a meeting of Muslims in Galle held at the Southern Province Governor’s office said all arrangements are being finalised by the Education Ministry.

“Following the foot-steps of Badiudeen Mahmud and Richard Pathirana, I’ve endeavoured to fulfil the education needs of the Muslim community as much as those of other communities” the Minister said.

Western Province, Governor Alavi Mowlana said the SLFP Governments have helped tremendously to uplift the educational standard of the Muslim community. They have been requesting for appointing Maulavi teachers for last twenty years, he added.

Presidential advisor A.H.M. Azwer said the Muslim community owes gratitude to President Mahinda Rajapaksa for appointing Muslim teachers at the request initially of the All Ceylon Muslim Educational Conference when they met the President at the Temple Trees recently.
