Sri Lanka Tourism revamps website

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has revamped their website in keeping with the latest trends in tourism development and the new, post-war image the country is geared in projecting on the World Wide Web.

Golden beaches in Sri Lanka, a top tourist destination

The website, giving current and up-to-date information, caters primarily to industry stakeholders, potential investors, and the general public who requires information on tourism related matter.

Essential information including Sri Lanka's history, geography, culture, events, sustainable tourism, tourism planning, development initiatives, business and investment support, maintenance of quality standards, promotions and publicity, domestic tourism, community relations including awareness building, code of ethics, surveys, and tourism related research and statistics are made available on www.sltda.lk in a largely user friendly manner.

The enormous volume of information that www.sltda.lk contains is categorised under five main sections as Industry Overview, Developing Enterprises, Developing Markets, Developing People, and Tourism Information. Other information such as services, projects, statistics and E-Learning facilities are also accessible through the site.

While detailing the activities of the SLTDA and offering information about the tourism industry and its regulations, the SLTDA site also serves as a link to many other tourism related organizations including the Sri Lankan Government's Official Web Portal, the Official Government News Portal, Department of Immigration and Emigration, and Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka rich in bio-diversity

Director ICT, SLTDA, Udana Wickramasinghe said, "Our aim was to create a site that bears the Sri Lankan identity, while also maintaining its diversity in people and the regional cultural norms."

The SLTDA is committed to creatively using its products, while ensuring optimisation of resources to efficiently and effectively serve the industry. SLTDA's activities include identifying and developing tourist specific, unique products and services, formulating and implementing tourism development guidelines, and facilitating and implementing legal and administrative processes for new product and service development.

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Bernard Goonetilleke said, "The tourism industry is based on current, up to date information.

The new SLTDA site is equipped to handle this need of the industry, while also providing a comprehensive guide to all information."
