Construction work on Galle-Dadalle Sports Complex begins

The construction work on Galle-Dadalle Sports Complex under the Mahagalle Urban Development Project carried out by the Urban Development Authority under the Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Ministry was inaugurated at Dadalle-Galle recently.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Goonewardena, Public Administration Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama were also present. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Dinesh Goonewardena, said the new Dadalle Sports Complex is a strength to the new generation and added that this will herald the emergence of world-class sportsmen and sportswomen in the years to come.

The problem faced by the youth to engage in sports activities in the area paved the way for the construction of the sports complex. The blessing given by the President is also a great source of strength, Minister said. This 450 million rupee project consisting of a modern 400 metre track, swimming pool complex, indoor stadium, tennis court, netball and volley ball court and a pavilion will be completed in three years.

Deputy Minister Lionel Premasiri addressing the gathering said, the people of Galle are grateful to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Minister Dinesh Goonewardena for the great assistance towards making this project a reality.
