Construction work on Galle-Dadalle Sports Complex begins
The construction work on Galle-Dadalle Sports Complex under the
Mahagalle Urban Development Project carried out by the Urban Development
Authority under the Urban Development and Sacred Area Development
Ministry was inaugurated at Dadalle-Galle recently.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Urban Development and
Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Goonewardena, Public
Administration Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama were also present. Speaking
on the occasion, Minister Dinesh Goonewardena, said the new Dadalle
Sports Complex is a strength to the new generation and added that this
will herald the emergence of world-class sportsmen and sportswomen in
the years to come.
The problem faced by the youth to engage in sports activities in the
area paved the way for the construction of the sports complex. The
blessing given by the President is also a great source of strength,
Minister said. This 450 million rupee project consisting of a modern 400
metre track, swimming pool complex, indoor stadium, tennis court,
netball and volley ball court and a pavilion will be completed in three
years.
Deputy Minister Lionel Premasiri addressing the gathering said, the
people of Galle are grateful to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the
Minister Dinesh Goonewardena for the great assistance towards making
this project a reality. |
