UNP bankrupt now - Minister Musthapha

The historic verdict of voters at the forthcoming Southern Provincial Council Election will further deepen the crisis in the UNP, said Tourism Promotion Minister Faizer Musthapha. Addressing a press conference held at Queen’s Hotel, Kandy, Minister Musthapha said the UNP had become a totally bankrupt party which cannot offer a strong Opposition to the governing UPFA and the people in the Southern Province had rallied round to give a convincing victory to the UPFA at the forthcoming elections.

He said President Rajapaksa had ended a cruel war which dogged the nation for 30 years and people have rallied round him hailing this achievement shelving political and other differences. People today have already started enjoying the benefits of peace and vast strides in the development of tourism can be envisaged in the near future, he said.
