Southern Provincial Council election:
Crucial for peace, economic prosperity

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been a progressive national leader
capable of addressing woes of the people of the country. The upcoming
Southern Provincial Council election will be crucial and decisive in the
context of the peace and economic prosperity of the country, Transport
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said.
Addressing a rally in Kirinda-Puhulwella he said, under the Mahinda
Chintana national development process it has been capable of bringing an
environment where law and order, social justice, public welfare and
sustainable economic upliftment in the country.
Concrete measures have been initiated by the present regime to bring
down the cost of living and alleviate poverty and unemployment in the
country, the Minister noted. The President and his government well
understand the pulse of the people and endeavour hard to ensure their
socio economic welfare and well-being.
People in the South are so fed up with the UNP that they have been
incapable of holding a single public meeting there. Media Minister
Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana addressing the meeting said in spite of
obstacles he developed Hakmana as a well equipped town.
He also appreciated the wholehearted cooperation and support he had
from President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Minister Mervin Silva, Rajitha
Senarathne, Colombo District Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa,
Kirinda-Puhulwella PS Chairman Sanath Hettiarachchi and several others
also spoke at the meeting. |
