Lankan spikers win and lose

Sri Lanka Volleyballers participating in the ongoing 15th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship defeated Hong Kong three sets to nil (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) in their opening game in Manila, Philippines.

Though they made a good start to the championship went down to Iran 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 18-25, 20-25) in their second game. Iran is third ranked in Asia and 14th in the world rankings was stunned in the first set when Sri Lankans beat them 25-19.

This is a great achievement but could not maintain the same trend during the following sets. Lankan posed a big threat though they lost the match.

Sri Lankans will confront China the favourites to win the title on Wednesday.

With experience they gained playing against Iran will be of vital importance to face the Chinese outfit. BP
