of its benefit, said the Chief Incumbent of the Vidyodaya Maha Pirivena
Ven. Prof. Kamburugamuwe Vajira Thera, addressing the inauguration

The Ven. Thera highly appreciated the action initiated by the
Ministry of Trade Affairs and the Building Materials Corporation (BMC)
for the sake of the well-being of the community through religious
revival.
Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardana expressing the purpose of the
program at a function held at Hunupitiya Gangarama Temple yesterday
(28), said the rehabilitation of the damaged religious places in former
conflict affected areas in the North and new constructions in temples,
churches, kovils and mosques will commence to create a mass awakening.
He said that efforts to address the long time requests of religious
leaders for government assistance to the ongoing religious awakenness
are making great strides.
Under this program a bag of cement can be bought for Rs. 665 if the
purchase is more than 50 bags in spite of the current retail price of Rs.
785 in the market.
The facility is available to any religious incumbent writing directly
to the BMC Chairman at Sangaraja Mawatha.
“Providing a qualitative and a guaranteed service in supplying the
requirements of cement for religious places is the intention of this
program and the service is available until May next year,” the Minister
added.
He also made it an occasion to invite the private sector to follow
the guidance of the government in facilitating the public, allowing them
cement and other building materials at affordable prices.
Chief incumbent of the Gangarama temple Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara
Thera praised the effort of the Minister naming it as a service for
religious prosperity in particular and for the whole society in general. |
