The new logo and the new information system of the Sustainable Energy
Authority of Sri Lanka (SEASL) were launched in Colombo recently.
SEASL Chairman Dr. Krishan Deheragoda said an official logo for the
SEASL has been strongly felt since its inception on October 1, 2007.
The new logo attempts to illustrate the identity of the SEASL,
symbolizing the two main facets of the Authority - renewable energy and
energy efficiency. Dr. Deheragoda said that the SEASL envisions energy
security of the country through the dual approach of developing
renewable energy and improving energy efficiency.
According to an SEA official the logo has focused on the basic
elements of existence as told in the oriental philosophy.
He explained that the wave would represent the ‘ever flowing nature’
of energy, which cannot be either created or destroyed is symbolized by
the element Aapo, in the form of a body of fluid in motion, while blue
hemisphere symbolized energy efficiency and life-sustaining air or Vaayo.
He added that the green hemisphere while representing sustainability
and clean energy would further indicate renewable energy development and
also symbolizes the resilience and sustainability of the biosphere of
Earth, Patavi.
The space beyond the circle symbolizes the nothingness of the
universe, representing the element Okasa and the Spiral symbolizes the
massive energy radiating from the Sun to the space as depicted by the
element, Thejo - the area of interest of the Authority. |
