Anti-Lankan convention in Germany:
Attempt to implicate Keerthisena fails
Renowned artiste Boodee Keerthisena has refused to participate in a
convention in Germany organized by a group of members of the Sri Lanka
diaspora resident in Germany, that aims to tarnish the good name of the
country and discredit the Armed Forces. The organizers have left the
details of the event, including its objectives and agenda hidden from
him and invited him to participate in a discussion following a screening
of his film 'Mille Soya'.
After coming to know of the actual nature of the event through
notices placed in the internet and thanks to the good offices of the Sri
Lankan Embassy in Germany, Boodee Keerthisena has informed the
organizers of his inability to attend.
"Since my name too has been implicated in their program which has
been given publicity in the internet and other media, I took this
opportunity to clear my correct position," he says in a statement to the
media.
"Therefore, I categorically state that I have no truck with any
program or activity that brings disrepute to the country, or the
tri-forces.
"I reiterate that this is an attempt which failed to implicate me and
my film to a program by presenting false materials to mislead me in the
process," the statement further said. |
