Suspected food poisoning:

Forty women hospitalised

A batch of 40 women receiving residential training at the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Training Centre at Pirivena Road, Ratmalana were admitted to the Kalubowila hospital with a history of vomiting, headache and diarrhoea after consuming their dinner on Sunday.

Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Lionel Muhandiram said the patients were out of danger.

Investigations are on to find out whether there has been a food poisoning.

A householder at Chapel Lane, Kalubowila has been contracted to supply food to the centre. PHIs attached to the Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council have taken steps to examine the hygienic conditions at this house.
