LOIT obtains ISO 27001:2005

Lanka ORIX Information Technology Ltd (LOIT) a subsidiary of LOLC group, the primary provider of ICT solutions and services to the LOLC group of companies received the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification for its Enterprise Data Centre IT services and Software Development Services. Group MD/CEO of LOLC Kapila Jayawardena said that the LOLC Group became the first in the banking and financial service sector to have an ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certified datacenter which is managed by LOIT.

He said that "This certificate demonstrates our commitment towards effective implementation of information security, governance and compliance across the organization.


Nawaloka Hospitals launches cardiac website

Nawaloka Hospitals will launch their CSR campaign "work with heart" in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Heart Association, aimed at empowering people to understand their risk of heart disease and lead healthier lives.

In an effort to better market its services and offerings to the community, Nawaloka Hospitals have decided to launch a new website for their heart centre in collaboration with World Heart Week.

The interactive site offers visitors a wealth of information previously unavailable to the public, which the hospital believe, will better educate the community about its health care options. In real ways, it enhances the community's access to the hospital and the services offered of the treatment options available to the public.

As a premiere healthcare facility, Nawaloka Hospitals are constantly evolving and adopting new technology to enhance their utility to the community, and the website is just the latest example of that. Nawaloka Hospitals will launch this new public website providing patients with all the information they need to confidently choose and use their services.

The hospital will also introduce a card, that offers a world of health benefits at Nawaloka Hospital. The Hospitality Health Membership Card offers to the card holder, a wide array of services, to the holder and family. The facilities offered are special corporate customer care counters to handle admissions, health checkups and OPD treatment bookings, point schemes allocated for patients to redeem against any future transactions, ambulance services, home nursing, 24-hour emergency on call service, discounts on laboratory investigations, special discounts on room charges and health screenings, health checkups communicated in advance through SMS's and email and a host of other facilities to benefit the customers.

Metro Media Club to be launched

The Metropolitan Group of companies in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Press Institute and the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association will launch the Metro Media Club as one of their corporate social responsibilities.

The Media Club aspires to promote and encourage skills enhancement among journalists and media personnel and will be specially designed for professional journalists, photographers and other media personnel, said Director Corporate Communications, Metropolitan Group, Taslim I. Rahaman.

The members can access information, training opportunities and media personnel will be provided high quality equipment cheaper than the market rates. He said that skills enhancement workshops, seminars and sponsorships will be provided for personnel development.

This has been a need for journalists for a long time to help media personnel in Sri Lanka to develop their skills. Hence, many journalists including regional and freelance journalists can join the club to receive the benefits. The club operates in Jaffna, Trincomalee, Gampaha, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Badulla, Rathnapura, Matara and the Kalutara districts.

"We have planned to invite foreign lecturers to deliver lectures for media personnel and allow them to share their experience and knowledge with fellow journalists," said Rahaman.
