Airtel offers more industry firsts to customers

Bharti Airtel Lanka recently launched yet another suite of innovative services. The latest addition to Airtel’s portfolio of offerings includes Youth Data plans for all Prepaid customers and the revolutionary Welcome Tunes at retail. Through these initiatives, Airtel continues to invigorate the market in its continuous effort to drive affordability, offer simplicity and provide accessibility of its services to customers across touchpoints in Sri Lanka.

Having crossed one million revenue earning customers recently, the company has provided enhanced service offerings to customers through its Youth Data Plans. Introduced two denominations of Rs 101 and Rs 301, all Airtel Prepaid customers can now enjoy instant wireless connectivity for their laptops and computing devices while enjoying free SMSs and a special night time calling rate.

Welcome Tunes at retail is another initiative that will enable ease of access to Airtel’s Value Added services. Hitherto, such services have been accessible only via IVR, SMS or dial-in basis. Airtel Welcome Tunes at retail now allows customers to simply purchase a welcome tune over the counter, thereby providing them greater agility to choose from among the 200 plus songs on offer. Available at over 12,000 retail stores, Airtel Welcome Tunes can also be gifted to others on the network.

Munchee supports oldest cricket club

Munchee, the flagship brand of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (CBL) will assist Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), one of the oldest and elite cricket clubs in the country. The club has done a yeoman service to develop cricket in many ways including nurturing of great national cricketers.

“As a Sri Lankan business enterprise, we are proud to assist NCC in their vital role of bringing local cricketers to national and international level. Fanta Cream Soda Fun Washes

With the launch of Fanta Cream Soda, the newest entrant to the beverage market by Coca-Cola in July 2009, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka is conducting a series of Fanta Cream Soda Fun Washes across the island. Based on the theme of the TV Commercial for Fanta Cream Soda, Coca-Cola is organising a series of car washes over four weekends, a media release said.

The Fanta Cream Soda Fun Washes being conducted in key towns across the island provide free car washes while simultaneously providing the drivers with a refreshing break and giving them the opportunity of tasting and relishing the newest flavour of Fanta Cream Soda.

Car owners will also be provided with a Free Fanta Cream Soda Fun Wash sticker at the end of the wash, the release said.


MMBL Money Master helps rehabilitation centre



Head of Operations at the Security Lodging and Rehabilitation Centre Major M.M.G.S. Fernando receives the donation from MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd., Director/General Manager Adrian Corera.

MMBL Money Master recently donated shoes and socks to 113 children at the Security Lodging and Rehabilitation Centre in Ambepussa. The centre helps to rehabilitate former LTTE child soldiers who had surrendered during the war.

The centre carries out a one-year vocational training for its inmates on completion of which they could return to their villages. Some inmates have also been provided foreign employment. A few are ready to fly to Malaysia for employment next week.

“These children have been forced into tremendous hardship during the conflict. We have a responsibility to guide them along the correct path to return to society as responsible citizens of a united and peaceful Sri Lanka. We appreciate the work being carried out by our military to rehabilitate them, which is why we have come forward to assist the centre,” said MMBL Money Master Director/General Manager Adrian Corera.

MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd., principal agents for Western Union in Sri Lanka is a joint venture between Aitken Spence PLC and Mercantile Merchant Bank, operating through over 2,000 sub-agents.


Fast passage for Cathay Pacific’s frequent flyers

Cathay Pacific Airways and Dragonair frequent flyer visitors who are members of the airlines’ Marco Polo Club can now enjoy quicker and more convenient immigration clearance at Hong Kong International Airport.

Marco Polo Club members can pass more quickly through immigration using the Frequent Visitor e-Channels. This is a convenient self-service clearance facility where travellers do not need to fill in arrival or departure cards and the clearance process is streamlined. The service is available to all Marco Polo Club Silver tier and members, in possession of valid travel documents and a multiple-visit visa for Hong Kong.

Marco Polo Club members eligible to use the service will have to enrol by presenting their Marco Polo Club membership card and travel documents in person at the Immigration Department Enrolment Office in the Arrival Hall at Hong Kong International Airport. Enrolment is free. Marco Polo Club Manager with Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programs Katie Rowen, said “We are always looking for new ways to provide even greater travel convenience for our Marco Polo Club members. I hope the invitation to use Hong Kong International Airport’s Frequent Visitor e-Channel will provide our Silver tier and these members with a faster, seamless immigration experience when travelling to and from Hong Kong.”
