After 28 years:

Textbooks to Jaffna via A9

One million sent:

The Education Ministry yesterday sent one million school textbooks worth Rs. 108 million to Jaffna via A9 after 28 years. As a result of the Government’s humanitarian mission, the A9 road can now be used for textbooks transportation to the North and East.

Agriculture records 7.5 pc growth

Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena told Parliament yesterday the country’s agriculture sector has achieved 7.5 percent growth last year due to moves taken by the Government to develop agriculture as pledged in the Mahinda Chinthana manifesto.
