Malani Jeewamana Puravurthaya the book includes a series of written
works in both Sinhala and English with additional facts like lists of
the local and international films she had starred in, creations she had
directed, the awards she had won and her upcoming creations. Details
about her from her entrance to cinema with Punchi Baba to the recent
Akasa Kusum had been included in Malani Jeewamana Puravurthaya.
The editor of the book is Dhammika Dissanayake who launched the book
named Malaniyae five years back.
Significantly the artiste tops the list as the only local persona
clinching the most number of national and international awards, the
number mounting up to 106 awards.
Speaking at the launch of the book Fonseka stated that it is indeed a
pleasure to be appreciated by writers of such caliber.
"A bulk of the articles is penned by those who are intellectuals in
the field of art and cinema. It even includes a speech made by President
Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2008 at an event which was organized to felicitate
me," she said.
She also stated that many have offered to compile her biography but
it is a project that she will be putting in the backburner at present.
Malani Jeewamana Puravurthaya includes 328 pages of details and
pictures and is a Surasa book. It is a product of Fast Publishing (Pvt)
Ltd.
No doubt the book will come in handy for all those who are interested
in reading and engaging in research on the topic of Sri Lankan cinema. |
